Thandie Newton is one of my favorite actresses and style stars. She can wear virtually anything and make it look beautiful and she often takes fashion risks, meaning she’s a girl after my own heart.
She was seen at the Oxfam Gala Screening of “Equals on Film” in London in a long blue and white printed dress from Marni and a coat from their Fall 2006 collection. She accessorized with brown Mulberry boots and Miu Miu’s Horn-strap Suede Tote.
Marni is rarely worn to events because it is just that eccentric and I love that she chose the brand. I am all for wearing pieces from past seasons because it really shows some fashion knowledge on the part of the celebrity and/or stylist. Like most everyone, I am tired of seeing this season’s pieces long before they are even available. The look was relaxed and beautiful and Newton wore very little makeup, which is a true testament to her beauty.
Blue is such a powerful color for the season and always makes a statement in any of its varying shades. I love the idea of wearing a neutral look with a pop of blue in cobalt or turquoise. Here are my favorite accessory picks in the aquatic shade:
Dannijo is one of the industry’s hottest jewelry lines and their Stingray Cuff in Blue ($300) gives a hint of the exotic and a pop of color. Denim is no longer just for jeans, so add Jean-Michel Cazabat’s Danica Denim Lace Up Sandals ($225) to your Spring shoe collection. A statement necklace is always a must-buy and Nest’s Blue Agate Double-Strand Necklace ($350) is dazzling with a raw kind of beauty.
